Completion Time: The GPC Program generally takes a minimum of 1 academic year to complete
*Inactivity Clause- students who do not remain active, defined as submitting a minimum of 1 reflection per semester, will be dropped from the program at the end of the inactive semester and will have to reapply should they desire to continue with the program.
Orientation: After applying to the program you will receive orientation details. The orientation will cover the components of the certificate and you will be advised on how to proceed.
Language Study: Confirmation of intermediate proficiency in English and one additional language through one of the following:
*All students must be fully admitted Mason students prior to receiving the certificate; this status will serve as documentation of intermediate English language proficiency for non-native English speakers.
- Successful completion of intermediate level language course
- Documentation of intermediate level language placement testing
Intercultural Communications Course: Successful completion of one of the following courses:
- Foundations of Intercultural Communication (COMM 305)
- Dialogue and Difference (CONF 325)
Global Activities & Experience: You are required to earn points from at least two areas. A minimum of 50 points is required. Up to 25 points may be received for activities completed within the two years prior to the date of your application. The GPC coordinator must approve all prior activities. (see Points System).

*If there is an activity, experience, or course you would like to have considered, which is not currently listed and you believe would fulfill the same objectives as the stated requirements, you may petition to have it included.
Portfolio Presentation: Upon completion of all other program requirements you will work with a GPC advisory board mentor, writing services and your career counselor to prepare a resume/curriculum vitae & presentation detailing your GPC experiences and achievements.
You will present your portfolio to the GPC coordinator, advisory board members, and fellow GPC students.
