*Reflection papers are required to receive points (see Reflection Guidelines). With the exception of intercultural event, lecture, or performance attendance, a completed verification form or official documentation of participation (transcript, completion certificate, flight itinerary…) is required to receive points.
*Up to 25 points may be received for activities completed within the two years prior to the date of your application. The GPC coordinator must approve all prior activities.
Area 1. International Experience
Travel Abroad/Study Abroad/Military Tour of Duty/ 30 points max.
*you will earn the points for each area that applies to your travel experience
Going abroad = 5 points
Going to a country in which your native language is not spoken = 5 points
Participation in a structured program with specified objectives (e.g. study abroad) = 5 points
Staying abroad for 3 weeks or longer (but less than one semester) = 5 points
Staying abroad for a semester = 15 points
Example 1: You participate in a study abroad program for 3 weeks in a country where your native language is not spoken:
+ 5 going abroad
+ 5 structured program
+ 5 going to country where your native language is not spoken
+ 5 staying abroad for 3 weeks or longer
Total = 20 points
Example 2: You go abroad with your family to a country in which your native language is spoken for 1 month:
+ 5 going abroad
+ 5 staying abroad for 3 weeks or longer
Total = 10 points
Area 2. Community Experience
Internship/Volunteer Work/ 30 points max.
20 hours = 5 points
40 hours = 10 points
60 hours = 15 points
80 hours = 20 points
100 hours = 25 points
120 hours = 30 points
Example 1: 20 hours per week for 3 weeks = 15 points
Example 2: 8 hours per week for 15 weeks = 30 points
